Elizabeth Sims, PT, DPT

President and Clinical Director

Dr. Elizabeth Sims has a passion for healing. A graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 2010, she quickly found her niche working with a variety of orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. While she enjoys all cases, she finds the most joy achieving superior results with patients who have been dealing with pain or movement disorders for a long time, and perhaps have been unsuccessful with PT at other clinics.

Her undergraduate and graduate studies granted her a broad base of knowledge to round out her degree. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2005 with a health-fitness degree, a minor in psychology, and additional classes in nutrition and teaching.

She had the opportunity to study in England during her time at URI, working as a personal trainer in an ethnically diverse area and traveling in her free time. Through clinical rotations at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Sims gained valuable experience with sports therapy, general rehabilitation, and recovery from stroke and traumatic brain injury, including working with veterans. Additional education and interests in recent years include evaluation and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, vertigo, and running gait mechanics.

Dr. Sims believes her approach to physical therapy is unique in the current health care environment. She attributes her fresh approach to studying under some of the best physical therapists in the country during her graduate studies. She strives to evaluate each injury as it relates to the entire body, rather than as an isolated issue. Her approach allows for more complete recovery, better long-term outcomes, and has been successful with a multitude of impairments.

A former gymnast and soccer player, Dr. Sims now spends her free time chasing her 2 young daughters around Plymouth, participating in local road races, and traveling with her family.

Cara Folino, PTA, CSCS

Assistant Clinical Director

Cara Folino graduated from Bay State College with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 2015, but her experience from “the other side of the table” as a patient has perhaps shaped her as much as her education. Once a college-level and semi-pro soccer player, she gained valuable insight while rehabilitating her own injuries to return to high-level athletics.

Her clinical experience has been rounded out by time spent working with wounded veterans as well as a rotation in a spinal cord injury clinic, both of which have lent her the ability to think outside the box during treatment sessions in order to achieve better results. Since starting at Redpoint, Cara has completed additional certifications for Certified Strength and Conditioning (CSCS), kinesiotaping, Functional Movement Screen, and Running Gait Analyst.

As if her accolades as an athlete and skilled therapist were not enough, Cara also excels at dressing up for Halloween and could be mistaken for a young Jane Fonda or one half of Sigfried and Roy at least once a year. Her creativity and enthusiasm add a new layer of fun to treatment sessions. In her free time, Cara enjoys exploring New England’s finest swimming holes, listening to music, traveling, and playing with her niece and nephew.

Madison Horner, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Madison Horner graduated from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in January of 2021. While she may be a new grad, she’s still a familiar face here at Redpoint. Two summers ago, during a full-time clinical placement with us, she excelled at treating sports-related injuries, general strength and mobility cases, and pediatrics. Her other full-time clinical experiences during graduate school included a rotation in acute care, as well as a 4-month stint at Boston Children’s Hospital—where she worked on ICU, neuro, and oncology cases and gained experience in treatment of rare diagnoses, as well as cutting edge post-operative care. She graduated magna cum laude from Arcadia University in 2017 with a biology major and was named captain of the school’s soccer team. Unfortunately, while playing soccer, she sustained 2 ACL tears and gained some important personal insight from the perspective of the patient.

Her initial interest in the field of physical therapy stemmed from watching her cousin, who has cerebral palsy, learn how to access his world through the guidance of a skilled therapist. Later, her personal experience as a patient rehabilitating those 2 ACL repairs, broadened her understanding of the importance of the field. Her interests in the physical therapy world include working to improve orthopedic and neurologic injuries through corrective exercises, sports medicine, and pediatrics.

Madi grew up in a small beach town in Connecticut. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, listening to live music… and finding interesting new music. She recently adopted a puppy, Louise, and is enjoying dog-mom life.

Shawn Wells, PTA

Physical Therapist

Shawn comes to Redpoint with 15 years of experience in outpatient orthopedics. He graduated at the top of his class from Springfield Technical Community College in 2006 where he earned a PTA faculty award. His areas of interest and expertise include strength training and conditioning, and manual therapy. He strives to treat the body as a whole, focusing on restoring postural balance through range of motion, flexibility, strength, and mechanical corrections.

His passion for fitness and strength comes from a deep interest in understanding the human body and its potential to overcome individual challenges. Helping clients who have struggled with weakness or a persistent injury for a long time and seeing them progress beyond all past expectations is truly what makes it all worthwhile.

Shawn’s roots in health and fitness started early. He grew up playing organized sports, including soccer and baseball as well as pick-up games of street hockey and football with friends. In his adult years, he has pushed his limits more with 2 half marathons and various Spartan obstacle races. His current fitness goals are simpler: he needs to stay in shape to keep up with his 2 very active kids. In his free time, Shawn loves to travel and spend time with his busy family. They enjoy camping, trips to the beach, arts and crafts, and playing with their dog Lucy.
