My week off, the challenge of being "Supermom", and how to carve out time for yourself.

I hope all the mamas had a great Mother's Day! And for those of you who don't yet have kids, or perhaps aren't interested in kids, I hope you had a better day (since you didn't spend the day wrangling small children while trying to "relax")!
I enjoyed a busy and not at all relaxing day with my darling daughter. You see, my husband travels for work, and it just worked out that Sunday was a transit day for him. He had been away for 10 days, so my only major goal for Sunday was to survive long enough to pass the baby off to him when he walked in the door. I plan to be "off" this week from baby duty. That means I call "not it" on most diapers, tubby time, clean up, and anything other than hugs and kisses (we'll see how that goes....).
Sunday for me meant a home cooked breakfast (my daughter's favorite, scrambled eggs), then a girl's day with a good friend and her daughter. We topped the day off with some time splashing around the waterfront, and an epic meltdown (the baby, not me).
Nowhere in there did I schedule time for blogging.
As such, I have take this week "off" in the blogging department. But, I can't go a week without offering something to help my readers, so this week anecdotal advice is guided toward the "Supermom", and anyone else who constantly burns the candle at both ends.
My house is a mess this weekend. I mean, it literally looks like a small tornado hit the kitchen and living room. I didn't complete all of last week's paperwork. I didn't write my blog! It's tough juggling work and a toddler, (nevermind a new business and a travelling husband). But... I chose to stop and smell the roses this weekend, taking a break from the necessary and mundane chores in my life. It's all too easy to get stuck in a routine in the daily grind. Every once in awhile, you need to take your shoes off and run in the sand - or mud, as it happened for me this weekend. When your toddler holds her hand out to you and says, "(C')Mon!", you should take it and see where it leads you.
To quote Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in awhile, you could miss it."

If only we too could sometimes play hookey, jump into a parade, and be a rock star for a few minutes :)
Sorry for the absence of solid medical advice this week. But hopefully, you danced a little at your desk watching this video.
Back at it next week with information on the chronically unstable ankle.
